Cuba Hangouts, A New Platform for All Things Cuba

Today we hosted our first Cuba Hangout, a new series put on by CubaOne and us here at Cuba Educational Travel. On every first Friday, from November through April, we explore relevant and popular Cuba-related topics through conversations with a variety of fantastic speakers and members of our community. Our goal is to add meaningful content to a complicated and often misrepresented topic – Cuba and US-Cuba relations.

We got things started with a true rock star in the Cuba and Cuban-American World: Susanna Kohly.

Susanna Kohly is Cuban American and the co-founder & Head of Marketing at Google Cuba, blessed us and our viewers with all kinds go knowledge and insight that ranged from:

  • Traveling to the island as a Cuban-American

  • Entrepreneurs and creatives on the island that have benefited from policy changes in Cuba and the US

  • One key item you must pack for your Cuba visit

  • Google’s work to connect Cuba with the rest of the world

  • Google’s Cuban Arts & Culture page which publishes archives, artworks, and stories from Cuba.

  • Google’s role in connecting the Cuban Government with Silicon Valley

  • A pledge from Susanna, an advocate of engagement, to keep pushing for better relations between Cubans on and off the island, and that Google will continue to look for ways to provide its products and services to the Cuban people.
